The TEFL Academy Review

The Tefl Acadamey Review

Whether it’s an online home course, a personal course at Chicago headquarters, or even a course in Prague, the TEFL International Academy can help pave the way for success, both for you and for your professional career.

For your future students, you can learn everything you need to know about the teaching profession without any doubt!

The structure of online education differs greatly from that of physical education and depends on the school’s learning program (which, in my opinion, is also the case for physical schools).

Open English has divided its students into their native language (Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, etc.) according to their English language skills (beginner, intermediate, advanced).

Somewhere between 1 to 10 students would meet the teacher in a virtual classroom.

The teacher will lead the class with the help of slides on the board, starting with a warm-up, then vocabulary, then several games and questions.

Like any other school, working with Open English has many advantages and disadvantages. The pay was not exceptional, the class structure left the teacher little room for creativity, and the students, who did not often speak a word of English, were given a part to survive which made teaching difficult for them.

That would not please everyone. At the same time, the beauty of working with an online business is that you work remotely, so you can be anywhere in the world.

With Open English, I visited all the countries of Latin America, saw volcanoes smoke in the Philippines and made one of the best friends of my life in Japan.

The TEFL Academy Review 2022: [Pros & Cons]

What level of English should you have for a TEFL course?

Teaching English as a foreign language can be the beginning of a new life for many people. With a TEFL certificate, you can travel and teach wherever your feet itch.

Unfortunately, many think that a TEFL course lasting 120 hours is not a “real” grade and anyone can do it.

The same people are probably the ones who think you can teach English well when you can speak English. Those who have spent an hour in an English class will tell you that it is mere idiotic thought (to put it politely). ,

A TEFL course is a legitimate teacher qualification required to teach English as a foreign language. As with any qualification, certain conditions must be fulfilled in order to be included in a TEFL course.

What are the requirements for a TEFL course?

For some TEFL courses, a bachelor’s degree is required, for others only a certificate of completion.

All TEFL courses only accept TEFL students over the age of 18. You must know the specific requirements of the TEFL course you wish to attend.

TEFL Academy Course Review

However, all TEFL courses are subject to a TEFL course requirement.

To be able to effectively teach English as a foreign language you need a solid foundation in teaching and learning theories, a good understanding of the English language and some competence is required to deal within the TEFL course. Therefore, the language level is required to enrol in a TEFL course.

Of course, native speakers of English are above the minimum standard required for a TEFL course in English, while non-native speakers must have a C1 level of English.

What does C1 mean?

A person’s English level is usually measured using the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, which describes language proficiency on a 6-point scale.

If a student measures the beginner or elementary level, he is considered A1. The previous knowledge is A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2 for advanced.

Someone who wants to attend a TEFL course must take a C1 or an advanced level of English in order to attend a TEFL course.

This is similar to any other study program conducted in English.

In order to manipulate the documents and the texts of the course, certain language skills are required. This is even more so, as it is a qualification for teaching English.

How do I know where I am?

To assess the level of a student, several language tests may be performed. A C1 after the GER is synonymous with:

  • Pearson English Test (PTE) General Level 4
  • Trinidad ISE III
  • Trinity GESE 10th and 11th year
  • Cambridge CAE (Class A, B or C)
  • Cambridge Business Higher
  • IELTS score 6.5-7.5
  • Michigan ECPE
  • TOEFL score 95-120
  • TOIEIC Listen: 490-495 Read 455 Speak: 180 Write: 180

If you have not yet completed a formal test and want to assess your level, you can do a quick test on one of the following websites:

  • British Council
  • Cambridge English
  • English test

If you are applying for a TEFL certificate and are not a native speaker, you may need to prove your English language skills. This can be done with a certificate from one of the previous exams or through an interview with the TEFL School.

Is it a disadvantage not to be a native speaker?

Absolutely not. Do not let this requirement stop you from becoming a TEFL teacher. There is no reason why a native speaker should be a better teacher than a non-native speaker, just because English is his mother tongue.

In fact, non-native speakers who have learned English as a foreign language claim that they have an advantage over native teachers because they have followed the same process as their students.

Unfortunately, in reality, finding a job can be difficult if you are not a native speaker, as they prefer English speaking teachers. There are many other options but you just have to find them.

More About TEFL Academy Review

Choosing to study is an excellent decision, and many factors must be considered. Let’s be honest: investing all your time and money in a business is not the ideal situation to fail.

That is why we need to know exactly what we commit to being ready to face all the challenges ahead. Being prepared is just one of the ways you can help learn to do your best and achieve your goals.

The situation is no different when it comes to learning an online course, although the learning method can be very different than we are used to.

At the end of the day, you learn, and the way you learn the material depends on you. The syllabus only affects the dissemination of this information.

Let’s look at the pros and cons of TEFL online courses.

TEFL online courses

Firstly, the benefits of online learning are obvious. The beauty of an online TEFL course is that you can learn early in the morning in bed or in the afternoon, wherever and whenever you want.

The timings for this course is also flexible, as opposed to the classroom lessons in which the timings are given by the school.

However, if you want to study for one hour before dinner or for lunch, you can do so. If you work very hard at the weekend and want to take a break during the week, you can do so. Whatever the best way to learn, you can organize your timetable at will.

The disadvantages of an online TEFL course are related to the professionals. You learn independently which gives you freedom but it also means that you need to make sure you find the time you need to learn. IF you do not have time to study then you need to make your time. Besides, you’re your own cheerleader.

Although there are tutors in the classroom to help you when you need them, it is up to you to motivate yourself to take your studies seriously.

This can easily lead to other aspects of your life taking precedence over your studies. It can be difficult to say no to your boss when you are learning for a new job!

After all, one of the main disadvantages of TEFL online courses is that they are online. This means that you must have an internet connection to visit the course website or to download materials or work.

The same thing could apply to a classroom. Nowadays, many courses require you to work online to prepare your courses.

1: Achieving a TEFL degree is usually available to all graduates

The minimum requirements for enrolling for a TEFL course often require that you have an education and speak fluent English. The good news for most graduates is that you are entitled to move without a finger.

However, be careful: not all TEFL courses are the same in terms of price and quality of instruction. It is unlikely that low-end courses of about one-month duration and very cheap will fully prepare you for the challenge of full-time education, while the most prestigious type of TEFL qualification, CELTA, may cost a considerable sum. £ 1,500; But it is a class that is recognized and preferred by all schools.

2: Allows you to travel and work around the world

For many graduates, a job at the TEFL offers the opportunity to venture to remote places around the world and live there, which is not usually possible. Are you fascinated by the Far East and its culture? Or do you want to be surrounded by exotic landscapes that would not move on a postcard? The TEFL work allows you to do just that.

3: A rewarding career

Teaching English can be an extremely rewarding career if you are looking for someone who wants to see for themselves what difference you make in a person’s life. Seeing their students’ progress as they start learning English really changes their lives, as it can lead to better economic prospects and better employment. As a teacher, you have played a leading role in this process, and the satisfaction that comes with it is often cited by TEFL teachers as one of the greatest benefits of their work.

Conclusion: The TEFL Academy Review 2022

One of the unique benefits of choosing to teach English abroad at the TEFL Academy is that a foreign institution keeps the work interesting.

Getting to know new people, tasting new foods and sightseeing will undoubtedly bring positive progress in many ways.

Living in a Foreign Country makes it much easier to learn another language or another local dialect.

In most situations, frequent vacations are not an option as almost all occupations do not provide much downtime.

In addition, the visit fees in another country are extremely high and the time available is always limited.

It’s hard to find an interesting job, but a TEFL certificate will keep you interesting in all areas.

We hope this review has given you a better understanding of who the TEFL academy is for and what they have to offer!
